Stratton Youth U/10s had a very entertaining home fixture against Robins Red. After an even start to the game the opposition broke the deadlock through a miscued shot that looped over Luke Dawson in goal. The surging runs of Dylan Morse, Idris Thomas-Jones, Sam Potter alongside the creativity of Fin Stratford gave the U/10s a series of chances and finally their pressure paid off through a fine flowing move that saw Arthur Quli release Jaden Wiltshire on the wing who put over a pinpoint cross to Louis Kingsbury to steer into the back of the net.
With the game even going into the last quarter the spectators witnessed probably the most nail-biting 15 minutes the U/10s have been involved in. Fin Marshall won the ball in the area and released Ez Allen to power home a shot to give the U/10s the lead only for Robins Red to hit back through a 30 yard pile driver. The Robins were dangerous at set pieces and they went into the lead after a fine header from a corner. Ez Allen promptly went up the other end to smash home a brilliant volley. With the game looking as though it would end up as a draw the Robins won a series of corners which saw them hit the bar before Luke Dawson somehow kept them out with some heroic goalkeeping. It was a classic game that will be remembered for a long time. For the first time in the team’s history the player of the match was shared as both Ez Allen & Luke Dawson produced match winning moments and they both deserved the accolade.
