Five SYFC teams participate in the Highworth 6's

Teams from the SYFC U7s, U9s, U10s and U11s age groups took part in one of the largest six a side tournaments in the region. The U9s and U11s narrowly failed to qualify from their group while the two U10s teams both made it through to the knockout stages with the U10s B getting to the quarter finals before just losing 2.1 to Supermarine.

But for the U7s it was their first ever tournament in a mini league with 4 other teams. The tournament started excellently for the U7s with Ollie Saunders opening the scoring with the first 2 mins against Abbey Meads. Ethan Parry then added a 2nd and 3rd goal of the game, with Daniel Price scoring a 4th just before the full time whistle.
Their 2nd match against Hungerford proved more difficult with Ollie Saunders opening the scoring and Daniel Price adding a 2nd. However some good defensive work by Henry Strange and Jamie Portlock and excellent goalkeeping from Moses Allen ensured Stratton took the win and a 2nd clean sheet. In the 3rd game, Stratton took on Chippenham who also had won their 2 previous games. In a very tense match the defence came out on top for both teams, although Stratton Youth created the best chances. The match ended goalless with Sion Ellis-Jones defending excellent and passing to start an attack extremely well. The U7s finally faced Draycott Academy. Again the defence for the U7s played excellent with Harry Johnson intercepting everything that came his way. Ollie Saunders again opened the scoring and then added his second to clinch the win.
That meant teh U7s came top of their league and therefore winning their group tournament, conceding no goals and scoring 8. An excellent day for the players, families and coaches so well done to them.
